Background

  • Strong spasms of the musculature of the esophagus that can last minutes to hours and mimic the chest pain of angina

Clinical Features

  • Squeezing or tightening pain in the chest
  • Can have associated dysphagia +/- globus sensation

Differential Diagnosis
