History

Since the 1920s, Kaweah Delta Medical Center has provided care to the residents of Visalia and the central California Valley. We are located in California’s Central Valley footsteps from the Sierra Nevada. With a population of over 130,000, Visalia is perfectly sized to provide all of the amenities but none of the hassles of urban living. Within a 3 1/2 hour drive, one can visit the San Francisco Bay Area, the Monterey Peninsula, the Central California Coast and Los Angeles. Additionally, the cost of housing is a fraction of that in other areas of the state. We offer compensation and benefits that are highly competitive. Our Emergency Medicine Program welcomed its first class of 6 residents on July 1, 2013. The class of 2019 has been expanded to 10 residents. Due to the wonderful unopposed learning that comes with a new graduate medical education program, our residents have had amazing experiences. Our hospital's commitment to creating an ever-improving learning enviroment makes our institution an ideal site to train in Emergency Medicine. Uust some of our strengths:

90,000+ annual ED visits Level 3 Trauma Center with dedicated surgical hospitalists and a brand new helipad An expert core and clinical ED faculty An extensive medical simulation lab -- the largest in the region and has the latest 3G Sim Man Research and medical writing opportunities and expertise Cutting edge ED advances: scribes, rapid medical evaluation system, mid-level providers, comprehensive ED and in-patient electronic health records ED faculty fully integrated into hospital and medical staff leadership (prior Chief of Staff, current hospital Board of Trustees, P&T, Credentials, and more) 24/7 ED Pharmacists for codes, procedural sedation and treatment protocols

All of Kaweah Delta’s emergency physicians are CEP partners. This means you’ll benefit from Attending-level expertise and supervision on every case. Additionally, you'll work within and learn a system of delivering emergency care that generates successful scores for Kaweah Delta's emergency department when compared to others across the nation. The partnership’s vision statement is: “CEP America strives to be the recognized leader in Emergency Medicine and to exceed the expectations of our patients, partners, and customers in ambulatory and emergency care.” That vision extends to our training programs and beyond.
