	The Texas A&M/CHRISTUS Spohn graduate medical education program in Emergency Medicine is located in coastal Corpus Christi, Texas. The program began in July 2007. It is a PGY-1 to PGY-3 program with ten residents in each post-graduate class. The Texas A&M/CHRISTUS Spohn graduate medical education programs include only emergency medicine and family medicine, providing the resident greater opportunity to attain procedural competence and decision making skills without having to compete for patient-care experiences with other residencies. 			===Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-''Memorial''===
			Located near downtown Corpus Christi, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-''Memorial'' is our sponsoring institution and primary training site. It serves as the 296-bed referral center for the 12-county Coastal Bend area of South Texas. Memorial is the leading emergency facility in the area and the only Level II Trauma Center south of Austin. The Emergency Department treats over 40,000 patients per year with an admission rate of over 20%.
			===Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-''Shoreline''===
			This hospital was established in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1905 and is the largest facility (432 beds) and foremost acute care medical center in the region. CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi–''Shoreline'' offers South Texans a full range of diagnostic and surgical services. The Pavilion at Shoreline houses the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Network which was recently recognized as one of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States. The Heart Institute offers the most advanced diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitative cardiac services in one convenient location. Emergency medicine residents enjoy working in this emergency department with high patient acuity and a large number of patients who require critical care. The future of the program is going to be at this hospital, as a planned $275 million expansion has already started with expectations to complete in 2018.
			===Driscoll Children's Hospital===
			Driscoll Children’s Hospital is a 200-bed tertiary care referral center for South Texas, offering the most complex and comprehensive medical and surgical care for children. Driscoll Children’s Hospital has a 19-bed Emergency Department with over 40,000 annual visits, a 20-bed Intensive Care Unit, and a 40-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Emergency medicine residents rotate in both the Emergency Department and Pediatric ICU.

			Corpus Christi a coastal city in the South Texas region of the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 316,381 at the 2013 US Census estimate, making it the eighth-most populous city in Texas. It is the principal city of the three-county Corpus Christi metropolitan area, as well as the larger six-county Corpus Christi-Kingsville-Alice Combined Statistical Area, with a 2013 Census estimate at 516,793. The city includes the Port of Corpus Christi, the fifth-largest port by tonnage in the United States.

			The city's name means Body of Christ in Latin. The name was given to the settlement and surrounding bay by Spanish explorer Alonso Álvarez de Pineda in 1519, as he discovered the lush semitropical bay on the Catholic feast day of Corpus Christi. The city has been nicknamed "Texas Riviera" and "Sparkling City by the Sea", particularly featured in tourist literature.
